BUILDING COMMUNITIES
WITH MANOR SCHOOL

Manor School, a specialist SEND institution in Brent, has been working closely with BANG to bring creative and therapeutic support to its students.
As part of this collaboration, the Dela Move dance and movement project has become a key initiative in promoting emotional well-being and inclusion.
As interns at BANG, we’ve had the amazing opportunity to be part of the ongoing partnership with Manor School and the delivery of the Dela Move project. What began as an observational role has grown into us being actively involved in the sessions, supporting the delivery week by week.
These sessions offer a safe and expressive space for young people to explore movement, build confidence, and connect with others. It’s been a privilege to contribute to an environment that uses creativity to support emotional well-being and inclusion. Being part of these sessions has deepened our understanding of how non-verbal expression can build trust and provide emotional release, especially for students with complex needs.
In addition to our work with students, we’ve also attended coffee mornings at Manor School with parents and caregivers. These informal gatherings have helped us strengthen relationships with the wider community, offering a welcoming space for conversation, sharing experiences, and accessing support.
From these mornings, the SEND Steering Group was created.
The SEND Steering Group aims to provide a platform for parents, carers, and community members to shape SEND provision in their community, share the types of support they need, and advance advocacy efforts. We hope it will grow into a sustainable platform for co-creating solutions with families, ensuring that support strategies reflect the real needs and lived experiences of families in Brent.
