MP VISITS BANG

On Thursday, 28th August 2025, Georgia Gould, MP for Queen’s Park and Maida Vale, visited BANG in Harlesden for a youth-led interview.
The event offered local young people a unique opportunity to put their questions directly to their MP and share their views on the issues that matter most to them.
The discussion centred around the economics of poverty, access to opportunities, and mental health and wellbeing — topics which reflect the lived experiences and concerns of young people across Brent.
Some of the questions asked by the young people included:
-
What inspired you to become an MP?
-
What actions are being taken to help young people access opportunities and reduce youth unemployment in Brent?
-
How can you address the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on young people’s mental health?
By placing young people in the interviewer’s chair, the event championed youth voice and highlighted the importance of youth participation in politics and public life.
This direct engagement served as a platform for civic learning and leadership development, both core to BANG’s vision of a world in which all young people are valued, thriving, and contributing positively to their communities.
As part of her ongoing commitment to community engagement, Georgia Gould—elected as a Member of Parliament in 2024 and serving as Parliamentary Secretary—met with youth leaders at BANG to listen, learn, and explore collaborative ways forward.
We are committed to working closely with young people to create meaningful opportunities for them to be active contributors in their communities. This includes supporting them to design and lead initiatives that build their leadership, entrepreneurship, and decision-making skills.
We also aim to connect young people with positive role models — such as Georgia Gould MP — who hold positions of influence. By building partnerships with these leaders, we empower young people not just to engage with power, but to share in it and shape the decisions that affect their lives.
The interview was held at BANG HQ on Harlesden High Street and ran from 13:30 to 15:00. Young people led every aspect of the session—from setting the agenda and project planning to managing the marketing and content creation—underscoring BANG’s commitment to being a youth-led organisation.
Derrick Ogole, Head of Digital Strategy and Marketing at BANG, commented on the event.
“Every young person deserves a platform to share their voice on the issues that matter to them. We’re incredibly proud of the young people who led the discussion with Georgia Gould MP — stepping up, asking bold questions, and driving the conversation forward. Experiences like this build confidence, develop leadership, and help young people pursue their goals and aspirations—while also inspiring the next generation of young leaders.”
We will be working closely with this cohort of young people to engage them in more civic action activities.
